What is Single Tooth Anesthesia?

The Single Tooth Anesthesia (STA) Wand System is the first computer-controlled local dental anesthetic system. It replaces the traditional "shot" with a gentle, precise delivery method that targets just the tooth being treated.

Instead of numbing your entire mouth, the STA Wand slowly delivers anesthetic material directly to a single tooth. This greatly reduces the discomfort and numbness of the tongue, lips, and face that you usually experience from traditional injections.

How It Works

Computer-Controlled Flow Rates
The STA Wand automatically regulates the flow and pressure during injection, delivering anesthetic solution at a precise and consistent rate below your pain threshold. This consistent flow maximizes predictability and comfort.

Dynamic Pressure Sensing Technology
The system monitors the exit pressure of the anesthetic in real time to ensure optimal needle position. Visual and audible feedback helps us identify the correct location for injection, ensuring you get effective numbing with minimal discomfort.

Designed for Comfort
The STA Wand features a unique pen-like grasp and feather-light weight, making it easier for us to use with higher accuracy. For you, that means maximum comfort during a procedure that many patients dread.

A Better Experience for Everyone

The STA Wand is easier on both you and our team—mentally and physically. You'll experience less anxiety knowing that the numbing process will be gentle and predictable. And because only the treatment area is numbed, you won't leave our office with a droopy smile or difficulty speaking.

How it works
01

Preparation

We apply a topical numbing gel to the injection site so you won't feel the needle enter.

02

Computer-Controlled Delivery

The STA Wand delivers anesthetic at a precise, gentle rate while monitoring pressure to ensure optimal placement.

03

Targeted Numbing

Only the tooth being treated becomes numb—your lips, tongue, and face remain unaffected.

04

Comfortable Treatment

We proceed with your dental work while you remain comfortable and relaxed, without the anxiety of traditional injections.

Common questions
Will I still feel anything during the injection?+

Most patients report feeling little to nothing. The computer-controlled flow rate delivers anesthetic below your pain threshold, and we use topical numbing gel beforehand. You may feel slight pressure, but the sharp sting of a traditional shot is eliminated.

How long does the numbness last?+

Because the anesthetic is delivered precisely to the treatment area, numbness typically wears off faster than with traditional injections. You won't experience prolonged numbness of your lips, tongue, or face.

Is the STA Wand safe?+

Yes. The STA Wand is FDA-cleared and has been used safely in dental practices for years. The computer-controlled system actually makes anesthesia delivery more predictable and safer than manual injections.
